i'm suprised no one has jumped at this oppertunity. i live in melbourne so can't be much help but a business i think you might have luck with is called Trippy Taco in melbourne. They aren't a franchise yet but i think they would make a great one. They do mexican as you may have guessed, it's quick food to make and they actually started off doing festivals like earthcore and made enough money to start a shop. Since they are in melbourne and you're in QLD i'm sure they would be happy to franchise and they would know about servicing festivals. They don't have a website but a search for wil get more details.

I read about Trippy Taco somewhere, maybe it was your blog, but funnily enough i'm not much of a taco fan! I'm glad to get your comments, although unless i think the franchise is absolutely fantastic, i'm reluctant to get involved since you have the franchise fee to pay on top of setting up the business. Also, costs with the higher end places (and this may not apply to Trippy Taco) are beyond my budget.

Just out of curiosity, do you use protein powder yourself? Do you find it useful? What kind do you use?

As for people interested in my post, maybe that will come if more people become join the forum?

You're right in saying it's better to start your own idea rather than go the franchise route unless it's a really ground breaking idea.Why pay franchise fees to think up an idea anyone could have.As for the post you'll hook up with the right person as more find out about the forum and site.

With protein powder i mix it into my museli for breakfast but i don't hit the gym much so i don't get out of it what i could.it's a good top up though. I hunted down a place that sells organic brown rice protein because i heard that too much soy can be bad for guys and i get plenty of soy already in more tasty forms like tofu.

I've been sitting on a great idea for a while.

It combines cycling with a fresh juice bar.

The cycle pulls the trailer and powers the blenders.

The customer can peddle, or a second person, while someone makes the drinks. The roof of the trailer could also have solar power for the refrigeration. It would be great to peddle up and down all the beaches selling fresh cold juices. Yum! It could be run by one person, but more fun to be run by two. There could be two cycles side by side for easier towing and perhaps even a solar electric moped motor to help with the hills.
What do you think? No one is doing it yet.
My husband and I would love to do something like this, while the kids are at school.
We will be moving to the Byron Bay area in Jan 2009.

i really like the idea, although i'm not clear on some of it. i gather you're saying the bike stops while the drinks are being made and the customer or someone else peddles on a stationary platform of some sort?

it would be great being able to buy fresh juice up and down beaches - and bike/solar powered!

There is currently a business that does a similar thing at festivals. I’ve only ever seen them in Victoria though. They have several stationary bicycles with blenders attached to the handle bars and they power the blender by pedalling. I’ve seen them at falls festival, the sustainable living festival and apparently they do the markets in apollo bay. I think they’re called the smoothie peddler. It’s a lot of fun and it would definitely go down well at the beach. I did some google hunting and their email is smoothie_peddler@hotmail.com if you wanted to contact them for more information
